Tonight, at the final Happy Hour JLM for 2018, we announced a project we had been working on for the past few months — a new Made in JLM job board that has 20x-50x more jobs than our current one, and the largest board ever available for local Jerusalem tech jobs.

Following the success of last month’s release of a board with 200 Remote Jobs, Starting today, a board listing jobs solely from companies that have a local office or team in Jerusalem will be publicly available at bit.ly/JobsJLM and as a pinned post on Made in JLM’s JobsJLM Facebook Group.

Bit.ly/JobsJLM

The board currently features 450 jobs from over 70 local companies, auto-updates weekly (soon daily), and this is just the beginning — with 240 companies that don’t have a job board (which means 80% of the city’s tech companies currently don’t post their jobs), and 195 we still haven’t checked — we have a total of over 430 companies still in the pipeline, setting us at 15% of what this board can become when completed.

Job Seekers — How To Find Jobs On The New Job Board?

The best way to currently use the job board it is to use the search by keywords. Because it shows so many results, the best way is to search. The search button is in the top right part of the board (web only). Try searching for words like “Android”, “Senior”, “Product”, “Marketing”, “Sales” and others to see what comes up.

Companies — How To Add Your Company To The New Board

If you’re one of the 430 companies not showing up on the board, it’s really easy to add a board and we want to help. just put up a basic site like Elon musk’s with text titles, and send us the link.

The only way to be on the board is to add a job board to your site. Manual submitting of jobs will not be made possible.

If you recently posted a job manually on the Made in JLM site (old board), it will stay up for the next month, until the new board goes up. After that, the only way to post a job will be through automatic sync — meaning you will need to have a jobs page to be on it.

If you need any help, please reach out to our team.

How It Works

Snir Sharristh joined Made in JLM to help out with the job board as part of Side Project Club, our weekly community hack night where people can bring side projects or help out NGOs. Made in JLM has been running the main Jerusalem tech community jobs page for the past 2 years, with an average of between 20–30 jobs available at all time. We found most companies post only 1 out of 20 jobs on our site. So we thought if we could just automate the process of pulling the jobs from the site, we will grow our board 20x-30x fold.

We made a list of all the companies in Jerusalem we could find and checked if they have a job board on their site. Once we find the link to a jobs page on a company’s site, it takes us a few minutes to sync to it — and then every job the company adds or remove from their own site is automatically updated on our board as well. We then use Made in JLM channels to promote your jobs for the company, free of charge, to thousands of community members weekly. And community members get a board that has fresh content, that they can trust is real and up to date.

What’s Next?

After running through our first 20 companies, we were very surprised with the results. We believe by the time we are finished the board will be about 100x larger than any board before it, with 2000–3000 jobs in Jerusalem that nobody knew existed.

The live data can also help with strategic city planning, for example in decisions to fund courses for specific professions based on demand, and in measuring the effect on the market after a new training program. Data that the city used to take 3 months of surveying to collect, can now be refreshed every morning with the click of a button.

We are now working on reaching out to those 240 companies (marked in red) that we know are hiring to help them add a job board. Surprisingly, these include some of the largest companies in the city, like SynaMedia (new NDS/Cisco), TATA and L&T. We still have 195 companies to go over to see if they have a job board (marked in blue). We are working on categories and filters that will allow to find jobs faster for your profession, and we know the interface isn’t ideal and are already working on a new design for the jobs page in the Made in JLM site, which will be live in February.

Please Share!

We hope you find the new job board useful, and that you share it with friends, and companies that aren’t on it. ;) It’s time to make it easier for everyone to find their tech jobs in Jerusalem.
